Reflection 1Before the class started, it was great to being acknowledged by the instructor. Immediately, this established some sort of rapport. The handshake with the clarification with the name of every student shows that every student is someone and establishes their place in the classroom community. To enhance the welcoming aspect of the class, the snacks provided with the initial activity allowed for students to initiate the class at their personal pace. This is important because not only does this help create a classroom to accommodate the variety of needs, but it also allows time for everyone in the class to get up to par with what is about to ensue after the instructor starts the class. Incorporating technology to receive quick feedback from the class is a brilliant way to incorporate technology to the class. The topics of the conversations that were covered in class could have very well turned into longer debates. I feel as the questions and conversations posed in the discussion were essential to questioning our outlooks on certain subjects regarding the school environment. For example when covering the "4 Corners" activity, some people may have been challenged to their way of thinking. This may have led to people discovering and acknowledge some blind biases they were not aware of before such as their outlook on having too much homework or students having the ability to use their cellphones in school.

I agree that being greeted at the beginning of class helped establish a rapport immediately. By setting a positive and welcoming tone immediately, we were able to approach being in class with open minds -- which is critical for us to do with our students!

Wow dude, I think this is a very good post. Good Job and I think you have phenomenal writing. In addition, I was not in class, but I think that you did very good in explaining what the class was like last week.

I also liked how he personally introduced himself to each of us. That's something I need to be doing in my classes to learn names faster and to build relationships with my students.

Nice work Luis! You have some good reflections here and have some keen insights from class and I like that you use an example on how our work is important in changing thinking. I want to push you to think and write about how this affects you personally and how the work we do in class might change your classroom practice.
